Tighe Wins Gold On High Bar To Highlight Day Two Action At EIGL-ECAC Championships

CHICAGO, Ill. - Sophomore Alex Tighe captured gold on high bar to highlight action for the Temple men's gymnastics team at the individual portion of the EIGL-ECAC Championships, hosted Sunday afternoon by Illinois-Chicago. Tighe posted a meet-best score of 14.150 to bring home his first career individual title at the conference championships.
Tighe was tops on the high bar, followed by senior Patrick McLaughlin in sixth place. McLaughlin, who was the first place finisher on the apparatus during the team competition, posted a score of 13.750 today. Junior Chris Mooney finished seventh with a score of 13.300.
Senior Jesse Kitzen-Abelson came in with a third place performance on pommel horse, posting a score of 14.000. Also bringing home a bronze medal was Mooney, who came in third on floor with a score of 14.600. Also faring well for the Owls was sophomore Brett Statman, who led Temple on vault with a sixth-place score of 15.150.
