TORONTO – Former Temple running back Tim Brown
has been named the Canadian Football League's (CFL) Gibson's Finest Special Teams Player of the Week following the league's opening week of the 2011 season.
In his rookie season with the British Columbia Lions, Brown was a shining star in his first CFL game. He had a 97-yard punt return for a touchdown at the beginning of the second half in the Lions' game against the Montreal Alouettes. Brown finished the game with three kick returns for 50 yards and five punt returns for 132 yards.
Brown played the 2004 and 2006 seasons at Temple, redshirting in 2005. The Stockton, Calif., native started 10 games as junior in 2004. Prior to joining the Owls, Brown was a 2003 junior college first-team All-American at City College of San Francisco (CCSF), leading the squad to a perfect 12-0 record en route to the 2003 California Community College Championship.

, will open the 2011 season with cross-city rival Villanova in the third annual Mayor's Cup, sponsored by Dunkin' Donuts, at Lincoln Financial Field on Thursday, Sept. 1. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN3.
