PHILADELPHIA—Temple men's soccer unleashed its 2011 agenda Friday, announcing it will begin the upcoming season on Aug. 27 at the University of Pennsylvania. The game time is yet to be determined.
The Owls get their home slate underway a week later when they host the Lafayette Leopards at Ambler Field on Sept. 3 at 2:00 p.m.
From there, the Cherry and the White will participate in three straight weekend tournaments, making visits to Brown (Sept. 9 and Sept. 11) and Stetson (Sept. 16 and Sept. 18). The Owls will conclude tournament play when they return to Ambler to co-host a tournament with Penn during the weekend of Sept. 23-25 before hitting the road for five straight matches.
The road swing kicks off by wrapping up non-conference play with games against inter-city rival Drexel (Sept. 28) and Howard (Oct. 1) before heading to Richmond on Oct. 7 to open Atlantic 10 Conference competition against the Spiders.
The Owls will work their way back to Ambler, as they will stop in the nation's capital to take on the George Washington Colonials prior to visiting Saint Joseph's.
Temple takes a respite from road action Oct. 21 when it opens a set of back-to-back matches against both Ohio schools. First, the Owls host Xavier before welcoming defending conference champion Dayton two days later.
October ends with trips to Duquesne (Oct. 28) and St. Bonaventure (Oct. 30) before rounding out the 2011 season with home matches against La Salle (Nov. 4) and Fordham (Nov. 6).
