Kroboth & Tribue to Play in Casino Del Sol All-Star Game

PHILADELPHIA – Temple S Kevin Kroboth (Nazareth, Pa.) and OL Wayne Tribue (York, Pa.) have been selected to play in the 2012 Casino Del Sol All-Star Game on January 16 in Tucson, Ariz.   The game will be televised on Fox Sports Arizona and its affiliates, kicking off at 6 p.m. MT (4 p.m. ET) from Kino Stadium.
Both Owls will play for the Stars, coached by former Ole Miss head coach Houston Nutt. Nutt was a three-time SEC Coach of the Year at Arkansas and Mississippi and sports a 135-95 lifetime head coaching record to go along with two Cotton Bowl crowns.
The Stripes squad, featuring several MAC players, will be led by former Fresno State head coach Pat Hill, who brings both NFL and college experience to the sidelines. He coached the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns prior to coaching 15 years at Fresno State, where he guided the Bulldogs to a 112-80 record and 11 bowl games.
A third-team All-MAC honoree, Kroboth started all 13 games at safety. He finished second on defense with 76 tackles, a team-best seven break-ups, three interceptions, and a fumble recovery. He had a career-high 12 tackles in the win over Army, including a career-best 11 solo takedowns. Kroboth led the nation in interceptions in the first week of the season following a career-high two interceptions in the win over Villanova.
A third-team All-MAC honoree, Tribue started all 13 games at right guard. He also saw action as a member of the field goal unit. Tribue and his fellow offensive linemen combined for 147 starting appearances.  Providing great protection, the offensive line gave up no sacks in four games this season.  Tribue was named to the 2011 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team for his community service work. He was honored during a halftime ceremony at the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 2.
The two Owls are the first Temple players to participate in the prestigious game since it began last season. Kroboth and Tribue join fellow senior OL Derek Dennis (Peekskill, N.Y.) in all-star action. Dennis will play in the 87th East-West Shrine Game® on Jan. 21.
