Al-Rokh and Bittner Earn ECAC Weekly Awards

PHILADELPHIA – Following its very impressive win at the Navy Open on Saturday, Temple Men's Gymnastics has generated recognition from the ECAC after just one meet into the season. Senior Adam Al-Rokh was honored as the conference's Gymnast of the Week, while freshman Michael Bittner was tabbed with Rookie of the Week honors.

All-around competitor Al-Rokh led the Owls to a win at the Navy Open at MacDonough Hall in Annapolis, Md. winning the all-around (82.4).  In addition, he placed both second on pommel horse (14.2) and rings (14.1) along with a third place finish on parallel bars (13.9).  

Al-Rokh, native of Bensalem, Pa., competed this summer at the USA Gymnastics Visa Championships in Minneapolis, Minn.  A graduate of Christa McAuliffe Academy, he is a four time Academic All-American and was recognized as one of 69 gymnasts nationally as a first team All-American Scholar Athlete for attaining at least a 3.50 GPA.  

He's majoring in Exercise Science and received his early training under former Owl Walt Kenney at the John Pancott Gymnastics Center and the Upper Merion Gymnastics Center.
Bittner, who competed in his first competition for the Owls led off on pommel horse scoring 13.9 to capture third place at the Navy Open.

He also performed a complete routine on horizontal bar outside of the counting line-up.  

Bittner , an Allentown, Pa. product, is a pommel horse, parallel bars, and horizontal bar specialist and received his early training at the Parkette Gymnastics Center in Allentown under coach Joe Stallone. He is majoring in Psychology.   

Al-Rokh and Bittner will be back in competition this weekend when the Owls head to the West Point Open for a team meet on Friday and an individual competition on Saturday.
