ST. LOUIS, Mo. –
Closing out the road portion of their 2012 regular season schedule, Temple Women's Soccer suffered a 2-0 loss to Saint Louis, as the Billikens tallied goals in the 36th and 45th minute of Sunday afternoon's Atlantic 10 Conference match at Robert R. Herman Stadium.
Unlike Friday's effort at Butler, the Owls had their share of scoring chances.
Temple pelted 11 shots in the game, including six that were drilled at the Saint Louis net, but only to be kept out by netminder Katie Walsh.
Seniors Jourdan Brill
and Casey Greco
represented most of the offensive attack for Temple, as each tested Walsh two times and finished with a game-high four shots in the contests.
During the 36th minute, Jessie Jarrett came up the field on the right side, where she dished a pss o Jamei Borges, who fired the ball off the far post and into the net for the game's first goal.
The Billikens beat freshman Shauni Kerkhoff
for the second time on the day less than one minute into the second half to expand on the lead. SLU's Mary Wright and Lindsay Elking combined to setup Maddie Gebauer for the shot that stole the second half momentum quickly and put Saint Louis up, 2-0.
Temple drops to 5-11-2 on the year and 2-5-0, heading into its final weekend of play. The Owls will close out the 2012 regular season next weekend with their last pair of A-10 matches. On Friday at 3:00 p.m. the Fordham Rams will visit the Ambler Sports Complex before the La Salle Explorers arrive for next Sunday's 1:00 p.m. kickoff.
Prior to next Sunday's contest against La Salle, Temple will honor its senior class with a special ceremony.
