PHILADELPHIA - 
After two strong meets to open the season, Temple will host the first of three meets this seasonon Saturday beginning at 7:30 p.m. when it hosts the University of Illinois-Chicago and Springfield. The Owls, who are coming off a two-week layoff, are opening what will be the the first of back-to-back home meets in McGonigle Hall. Live stream for tonight's meet will be available.

In its opening meet of the season, Temple demonstrated a strong first impression at the Navy Open, as it took first place with a total score of 330.800, while senior Adam Al-Rokh earned a top score of 82.400 in all around. Al-Rokh had the opportunity to compete against some of the top gymnasts from all around the world out in Las Vegas, Nev. in the Winter Cup Challenge, where he earned a 19th place tie in all-around with his total of 77.850. 

Most recently as a team, the Owls earned a second place score 342.300 in the seven-school meet. For Temple, tonight marks will be the first time it competes against UIC this season. Springfield, however, has been a familiar foe for the Owls, as tonight will be the third time they will have seen each other.

Also standing out for Temple has been Alex Tighe. On the horizontal bar, Tighe's average score of 14.400 leads the EIGL.

UIC comes into tonight's meet ranked No. 11 in the nation. The Flames are coming off a span in which they competed in three straight dual meets against Big 10 programs. UIC defeated Iowa at home, 332.1-325.2, after falling at Minnesota and before dropping a contest to Illinois.

Dan Zerbel has been UIC's most consistent performer. Through four meets to date, Zerbel leads the conference with average scores in floor exercise and parallel bars.

Joseph Hodges leads the Flames and is ranked fourth in the conference in all-around.

Springfield comes to Philadelphia to take on Temple for the third time already this season. The Pride are ranked No. 15 in the nation and are coming off their first home meet of the season, in which it fell to No. 1 Penn State, 

On still rings, Ryan Ponce holds the highest average among all competitors in the conference at 14.725. Teammate Ian Stratton is fifth in the EIGL as an all-arounder, averaging a count of 77.400 in his events.
