NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Temple's Lauren Caminiti has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. The A-10 named Massachusetts sophomore midfielder Tanner Guarino Ferris as its offensive player of the week, and La Salle freshman midfielder Claire Andrews as its Rookie of the Week. The awards are for matches played during the week of Feb. 20-26.

Caminiti, a senior defender, led the team with six ground balls in a 2-0 week as the Owls defeated Rutgers (12-11) and Mount St. Mary's (12-3). The North Wales, Pa., native also recorded two caused turnovers in each contest as well as two draw controls in the Mount St. Mary's win. Her four caused turnovers for the season are already more than half her total from last year (7).

Guarino posted seven goals and two assists in a pair of wins over Boston University (13-11) and Marist (20-7) during the week. She shot 70 percent for the week, had two game-winning goals and posted three groundballs, five draw controls and three caused turnovers. Her four goals and five points against Boston University were both new career-high marks. She followed up the win over Boston University with a three-goal, one assist effort in the win over Marist on Saturday.

Andrews, an Arnold, Md. Native, scored five goals in La Salle's 10-7 win over Iona, including three goals in the first half, providing a spark off the bench for the Explorers. She caused a turnover and was a perfect 4-4 on free position shots.

Temple will be back on the field Wednesday, Feb. 29 in a 3:30 p.m. game at Lehigh as the 3-0 Owls look to remain undefeated for the season.
