Five advance to Individual Finals on Friday evening

NORMAN, Okla. – In its bid for its first NCAA Championship since 1949, the No. 9 Temple Owls did not have a fall on any event, but placed fifth with a score of 339.450 in session two of the preliminary round held at the Lloyd Nobel Center on the campus of Oklahoma University on Thursday evening. With their placement, team competition for the season has ended, as they close the book on the 2012 season with a record of 18-6 and finish No. 10 in the nation. However, the Owls will send five competitors to take part in Friday evening's event final including: Allan Malone on floor exercise, Matt Martin on vault, Alex Tighe on both parallel bars and horizontal bar,plus both Chris Mooney and Adam Al-Rokh who finished third and fourth in all-around during the Owls' session
Earning a spot in Friday night's team finals were Illinois, Oklahoma and California, as they placed in the top three in session two. With that said, those three squads will join Stanford, Michigan and Penn State.
Minnesota took fourth place in Temple's session, while the Owls placed ahead of Air Force.
ECAC vault champ senior Matt Martin had another impressive performance on the apparatus, as he scored 14.900 for ninth place in the event. Junior Alex Tighe, the conference title winner on parallel bars, was Temple's highest finisher on the apparatus on Thursday, as he took tied Minnesota's Ellis Mannon for 15th place with an identical score of 14.550. Tighe was also the Owls' leader on the high bar, having a score of 14.250 to attain a tie with Cal's Nic Blair for 12th place.
Leading the Owls on pommel horse, senior Taylor Brana posted a 12th place score, which tied him with Minnesota's John Scallon with an earned score of 14.250. On the mat, senior Allan Malone had Temple most impressive routine in the floor exercise, as he claimed 13th place with his score of 14.600.
Working all six events, Al-Rokh put up his best score of the night on rings, as he had a 14.150, which placed him 16th overall and first among Temple participants. Also competing in the all-around, Mooney placed not too far behind Al-Rokh, having a score of 14.00. Dashiell Sears (13.900), Brana (13.800) and Zach Aguiar (13.600) rounded out the top five for the Owls in the event.
Also placing within the top 25 of the floor exercise, senior John Leonard had a 17th place ranking with score of 14.400, while fifth-year competitor Blake Collins took 23rd overall and Temple's third-best score with a 14.200.
Following Brana on the pommel, senior Michael Bittner scored 14.200 to earn 15hth place overall, while Tighe came in 18th (14.050) and Al-Rokh (13.700) took over 24th place overall in the event.
Brett Statman had a strong demonstration on the vault, as he turned in Temple's second best score, having a 14.700 for 15th place overall.
Brendan Williams earned a solid score of 14.150 on parallel bars, as Mooney put up an performance worth 14.000 on the apparatus.
Rounding out the high bar, Statman's score of 13.850 eanred him 24th overall and Temple's second-highest score, while Logan Fiery finished close behind him with his score of 13.800.
The NCAA individual finals pick up Friday, while the teaml finals are set for Saturday.
