PHILADELPHIA – The $10 million expansion and refurbishment of Temple football's Edberg-Olson Hall is nearly finished.

From now until the season opener with Villanova, fans will be able to view the weekly changes to the Owls' training facility. (see sidebar called “E-O Expansion Photos”)

The 15,000-square-foot addition is complete. Workers are putting the finishing touches on the building.

The strength and conditioning area expanded from 2,500 square feet to 10,000 square feet. The expansion also features an enlarged sports medicine office with hydrotherapy, a full-service academic support area, and a 3,500-sqaure-foot team function room. An observation balcony runs the lengths of the building.

The weight room and training room are fully operational.

The original 23,600-square-foot building contains team locker rooms, a training room, equipment facilities, coach's offices, a players' lounge, individual position meeting rooms, and a theater-style team meeting room. Upgrades are ongoing.

During the season, approximately 250 people pass through the E-O doors on a daily basis.

Training camp for the 2012 season opens on August 4.

The Owls open the 2012 season against the Wildcats in the fourth annual Mayor's Cup, sponsored by Dunkin' Donuts, at Lincoln Financial Field on Friday, August 31 at 7 p.m. on ESPN3.
