Temple Rowing Needs Your Support for its Boathouse

Greetings from North Broad Street!

On behalf of the entire Temple Rowing family, we hope you are enjoying the holiday season.  After a successful fall semester and a healthy dose of final exams, both the men's and women's teams have headed home to relax for a few weeks.  They will return to campus in January to start the big push toward the 2013 spring season.  We look forward to seeing many of you at our races.  We will be sure to pass along our race schedule as soon as it is finalized and will definitely be planning something to celebrate Dad Vail weekend!

We also want to share some exciting news with you. Temple has submitted a proposal to the Commission on Parks and Recreation, which, if approved, will help us to secure the land to construct a new, state-of-the art boathouse on a plot located below the Strawberry Mansion Bridge.  The proposal is currently under review and available online for public comment until January 16th.  As many of you are aware of the difficult conditions under which our teams are operating, you know how important this development would be to Temple.

Please, take some time to review our proposal, and let the Commission know what you think.  You can comment directly below the document on the website or email comments to the Commission at parksandreccommiss@phila.gov.  Also, share this message with friends and spread the word – the goal is to generate as many positive comments as possible!

Finally, for those still in the Philadelphia area, there will be a public hearing on January 16, 2013 at 6PM at Lloyd Hall for anyone who is interested in attending to show additional support. We would love to see you there.

Thank you for your continued support and encouragement.  We will continue to keep you updated as the project develops.

Go Owls!
