RALEIGH, NC -
Sophomore Brandon Matthews
was an even-par 72 for the final round of the Wolfpack Intercollegiate to place third overall with a nine-under par to help lead Temple to a seventh place finish among the 17 competing teams at North Carolina State's Lonnie Poole Golf Course Tuesday.
Matthews, who shot rounds of 67 and 68 Monday, was one of only 15 (out of 90) golfers to shoot par or better on the final round.
Junior Matt Teesdale
also shot even par to finish second for the Owls and tie for 15th overall with a one-over 217. Senior Matt Crescenzo shot a six-over 222 (70-72-80) to tie for 32nd overall. Senior Russell Hartung
(232) and freshman Evan Galbreath
(233) rounded out the Owls' five, in 75th and 76th places, respectively.
East Tennessee State (843) won the event and was followed by UNC-Greensboro (854), North Carolina State (865), East Carolina (8710, UNC-WIlmington (872) and Jacksonville State (873). Temple was next at 876 followed by Campbell (883), Idaho (887), Rutgers (887), North Carolina State B (888), Maryland (888), Boston College (895), Western Carolina (902) Arkansas Little Rock (903), Navy (907), and Drexel (926).
The Owls return home to host the Temple Invitational at Philmont Country Club this Saturday and Sunday, October 12-13.
