10.8.13 | Women's Cross Country

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Temple women's cross country's Jenna Dubrow has been named the American Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week after an outstanding performance at the Paul Short Invitational on Oct. 5. Sophomore Ernest Kibet of Louisville was named the Men's Athlete of the Week.

Dubrow, a junior, finished 13th individually to lead the Owls to a 19th-place finish of 45 teams at the meet. It is the highest-ever finish for the program at the Paul Short Invite. Dubrow's time of 22:10 for the 6k race is Temple's best time at the Paul Short meet, a record she had also broken in each of the last two seasons. She also finished 13th a year ago, with a time of 22:22.

Kibet paced his Cardinal teammates at the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday, placing second overall in a field of 163 runners. His time of 24:22.10 led Louisville to a first-place team finish, bettering several SEC and ACC opponents, as well as No. 17 Eastern Kentucky. Kibet earned his second career top-ten finish at the Greater Louisville Classic after placing ninth last season.

Temple's cross country teams will have this weekend off before returning to competition on Oct. 19 at the Leopard Invitational hosted by Lafayette.
