Men's Soccer Players Vaughn Spurrier and Dan Scheck Earn Weekly Awards

PHILADELPHIA – After a week that featured a 1-0 win over Cincinnati on Senior Day, Temple men's soccer players received weekly awards from the American Athletic Conference and Philadelphia Soccer Six.  Vaughn Spurrier was named the Offensive Player of the Week by the Philadelphia Soccer Six and placed on the honor roll by the conference, while Dan Scheck was named Defender of the Week and also placed on the honor roll by the conference.

Spurrier scored the game-winning goal in double overtime on Saturday against Cincinnati.  Fellow senior Ryan Bradbury got the assist on the goal, giving the seniors a victory in their final regular season home match at Ambler Sports Complex.  For the season, Vaughn Spurrier has four goals
and three assists, ranking him second on the team with 11 points.

Scheck made four saves in the victory, recording his ninth shutout of the season.  He has recorded shutouts in nine out of the 10 victories for the Owls.  He has only allowed 12 goals all season for a goals allowed average of 0.66, and also has made 75 saves for a save percentage of 0.862.  This is the second consecutive week Scheck has been selected for the honor roll.
