Men's Soccer Falls to USF 1-0 in American Athletic Conference Tournament Quarterfinals
11.9.13 | Men's Soccer
AMBLER, Pa. – Temple men's soccer fell to USF (7-3-8, 2-2-4) in the American Athletic Conference Tournament Quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon at Ambler Sports Complex. The loss pushes Temple's record to 10-4-4, 3-1-4.
USF controlled the ball in Temple's zone for the beginning of the first half, as Dan Scheck had to make saves early in the game. It was then Temple's turn to put pressure on the Bulls' goalkeeper. Neither team could get the ball in the net until 30 seconds were left in the first half. Stiven Salinas took a long pass that went over the heads of the Owls' defense and scored past a sliding Dan Scheck for the game-winning goal.
Temple had a few chances in the second half to come back and tie the game, but could not convert. The Owls had two corner kicks and a free kick off a foul in the last few minutes, but the Bulls' goalie made saves each time.
Scheck made four saves for the Owls.
The season may not be over for the Owls, as they await a potential at-large bid for the NCAA Tournament to extend their season.
