Tighe Hits Routine On Parallel Bars At Winter Cup Challenge Finals

LAS VEGAS— In the event finals of the USA Gymnastics' 2013 Winter Cup Challenge, senior Alex Tighe competed in three events against the top competitors in the nation at the LV Sports Center.
Representing Temple, the four-year gymnast had his best performance on parallel bars, as he scored 13.900, which was up from his preliminary round score of 11.800 on Thursday.
Tighe, a Brookfield, Wis. native, also had a solid demonstration on the horizontal bar, as he placed 15th overall.
Participating in the pommel horse event, Tighe was granted a score of 12.00 for his performance on the apparatus.
From here, Tighe will return to campus to begin preparation for Saturday's home meet in McGoniogle Hall, where the No. 12 Temple Owls will welcome William & Mary and Penn State for a 7:30 p.m. tri-meet.
