Men’s Gymnastics Beats Army and Navy in Alumni Homecoming Meet

RESULTS
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – After losing its last three meets, Temple Men's Gymnastics competed against Army and Navy at McGonigle Hall for their Alumni Homecoming meet outperforming the two teams scoring a team total of 417.350 followed by Navy (405.000) and then Army (403.800).
Freshman Jon Rydzefski led the Owls to victory with his impressive all-around performance securing the win with a score of 82.750. The freshman beat three other competitors who performed in each event on the night. Rydzefski scored his highest event score on high bar scoring 14.500 followed by parallel bars (13.800).
The Owls won all six events on the night. Temple's best collective effort came on the vault, where the gymnasts scored a team score of 71.100 led by senior Brett Statman's 14.450 performance. TU scored over 70.0 point on the rings (70.450) and floor exercise (70.250). Senior Dash Sears and graduate student captain Taylor Brana came in first and second on the rings scoring 14.550 and 14.250 respectively for Temple.
Graduate student Evan Burke provided Temple's top floor exercise score. Burke's routine earned him a 14.600, which was the highest score overall on the event. Teammates Allan Malone and Brett Statman tied for second with a 14.200 for the Owls.
The Owls performed a team score of 69.900 on the high bar led by senior Alex Tighe's 15.200 performance and Allan Malone who scored 14.550 on the apparatus. Tighe scored the second highest score for the Owls on parallel bars scoring a 13.900 behind Taylor Brana's impressive performance earning him the team high 13.950 on the apparatus. The Owls scored 68.300 points as a team on the apparatus.
The team's lowest performance was on the pommel horse where they scored a team total of 67.350 led by senior Alex Tighe's strong routine scoring a 14.100 on his routine. Jon Rydzefski and Taylor Brana came in first and second scoring 13.750 and 13.700 respectively.
From here Temple will prepare for the ECAC Championships at Springfield in two weeks on Friday, April 5th slated to begin at 7:00 p.m.
