Special Events Planned for This Weekend's Softball Games

Game Notes

PHILADELPHIA
The Temple softball team has some special events planned for this weekend's critical Atlantic 10 games against visiting Rhode Island and Massachusetts. The Owls will hold an alumni picnic following Saturday's game, and Sunday's doubleheader will be the team's “Pink Out” game.

TU hosts the Rams (9-26, 2-9 A10) in a single game on Saturday afternoon beginning at 12 p.m. After the game, the Owls invite Temple softball alumni to join them for a picnic on the lawn at Temple Softball Stadium. The event is free, but attendees are asked to RSVP to Joe DiPietro at dipietro@temple.edu.

Sunday's twinbill against UMass (14-19, 8-4 A10) will serve as the “Pink Out” game, intended to help raise awareness for breast cancer. First pitch for the first game is scheduled for 12 p.m. Fans are encouraged to demonstrate support by wearing pink. The team will be wearing pink jerseys in honor of the event.

Temple is 22-22 overall and 9-5 in A-10 play. The Cherry & White currently sit in fifth place in the conference, with the top six teams advancing to the A-10 championship in early May. This year's tournament will be held in Amherst, Mass., at the Minutewomen's Sortino Field, May 8-11.

Junior Stephanie Pasquale continues to lead the team, and the league, with her .454 batting average. The catcher has set or is approaching seven different Temple single-season and career records. In addition, she is nationally ranked in the top-15 of five categories, including leading the country as the toughest player to strikeout.

On the mound, freshman Kelsey Dominik leads the squad with a 10-5 record and a 3.97 ERA. She has tossed a team-high 91.2 innings and has completed 11 of the 14 games she has started.

Live stats will be available all weekend and Friday and Sunday's games will be streamed live at OwlSports.com.

After this weekend's four-game set with two Atlantic 10 foes, TU has four more conference games remaining with a pair of games at current second-place team George Washington next Friday and Saturday, and a doubleheader at home with third-place Fordham on Sunday, May 5. The twinbill with the Rams will also be Senior Day, honoring Temple's four graduating team members – Kayla Cook, Daniele Raneri, Ali Robinson and Gina Sciarrone.
