COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Temple field hockey rising junior Amber Youtz
and graduate assistant coach Kelly Driscoll
have been selected to compete for their respective teams at the upcoming 2013 Women's National Championship (WNC) in Norfolk, Va., from May 23-29. Youtz will represent Team New Jersey, while Driscoll will play for Team Pennsylvania.
Temple head coach Amanda Janney
serves as an assistant coach/team administrator for New Jersey, and will also be traveling to the WNC.
Driscoll will be returning to her alma mater, Old Dominion University, where she spent four years as ODU's starting goalkeeper from 2006-2009.
There are 108 athletes participating in the WNC including all of the players on the current USA National Team. Some of the best field hockey players in the nation will compete for the title of High Performance National Champions, and more importantly will contend for a spot on the U.S. Women's National Team roster. Head Coach Craig Parnham will be evaluating matches and selecting outstanding players from the pool of participants to represent Team USA on the international stage.
Admission to the WNC is free and open to the public. All matches will be played at Powhatan Sports Complex on the campus of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va. Youtz and Driscoll will face off in the first game of the WNC at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 22 as Pennsylvania HP takes on the returning champions, New Jersey HP.
