PHILADELPHIA – Temple Men's Soccer head coach David MacWilliams has announced the additions to his 2013 roster. MacWilliams, entering his 14th season, will welcome eight freshmen and three transfers to the program, which will play its inaugural season in the American Athletic Conference this fall.
Joining the Owls this season will be freshmen Alexander Cagle, Mark Grasela, Matt Mahoney, Steffan Mueller, Miguel Polley, Robert Sagel, Vojkan Tomasevic and Dan White, along with transfer players Donovan Fraser, Anani Mohammed and Jonah Williams.
"I'm very excited about these prospects and the level of talent they bring to Temple," MacWilliams said. "I really believe this is the best incoming class that I've had in my 13 years here and that's no disrespect to any of the previous classes. This group of guys gives us an opportunity to compete in the American Athletic Conference immediately."
Alexander Cagle - A six-foot-four goalkeeper from Brookfield, Wisconsin, Cagle is a member of the FC Milwaukee USDDA Academy Team. His junior year proved to be his most impressive, as he was named to the Second Team All-Conference in 2011. That same season, his team reached the WIAA State Tournament and he posted a 0.366 goals against average for the season at Brookfield East High School.
Donovan Fraser - A transfer from the University of Maryland, where he was a medical redshirt, Fraser was a two-time NSCAA High School All-American and was one of only 10 juniors to be named an NSCAA All-American in 2010. The forward was named an ESPN High School New York "PrimeTime player"and scored 56 goals and tallied 54 assists in his high school career. Fraser won the Suffolk League IV championship all four years of high school and was part of the Olympic Developmental Program national player pool in 2009. Coming out of high school and while playing for Albertson Soccer Club and Dix Hills Thunder, Fraser was ranked the No. 58 recruit by ESPNHS. While playing for his club team, he won the Adidas Golden Boot at the U-14 Boys National Championship.
Mark Grasela - A defender from Philadelphia, Pa., Grasela was named to the Philadelphia Catholic League's First Team for his senior season at La Salle College High School. Grasela is also a member of the Montgomery United.
Matt Mahoney - A native of Commack, New York and captain of BW Gottschee USDDA Academy Team, Mahoney was ranked the No. 3 defender in the New York Region by Top Drawer Soccer.
Anani Mohamed - A midfield transfer from Virginia Tech, Mohamed joins the Owls after playing as a member of the Guyana Senior National Team. Mohammed played for the U23 Guyana Olympic team and for Cal-Odyessey USSDA.
Stefan Mueller - A defender from Commack, New York and member of the BW Gottschee USDDA Academy Team, Mueller was ranked the No. 53 ESPN Rise Recruit and No. 83 recruit in College Soccer News for the Class of 2013.
Miguel Polley - A midfielder and a member of the Albertson USDDA Academy Team, Polley was ranked the No. 26 ESPN Rise Recruit for the Class of 2013. The West Bloomfield, Michigan native was also a member of the United States U-18, U-17, U-16, U-15 National Teams and was a member of the US U-17 National Team Residency Program.
Robert Sagel - A defender from Las Vegas, Nevada, Sagel was a member of Shattuck St. Mary's USDDA Academy Team in Minnesota and was ranked the No. 65 recruit in College Soccer News for the Class of 2013. As a member of the United States U-17 Men's National Team in the Mondial Minimes Tournament in Montaigu, France, Sagel's team was named TopDrawer Soccer Team of the Week (April 21-28, 2012)
Vojkan Tomasevic - A midfielder from Belgrade Serbia, Tomasevic played for the Serbian U-18, U-17, U-16 National Teams and was a member for FK Bexanija and FK Zemun.
Dan White - A midfielder from Wilmington, Delaware, White was a member of the FC Delco USDDA Academy Team. While playing for the Charter School of Wilmington, who was ranked No. 12 in the nation, he led the team in scoring with 27 goals and 13 assists. As a junior, he was recognized as an all- state and all-conference performer.
Jonah Williams - A defender transfer from University of San Francisco, Williams played club soccer for the Cal-Odyessey USSDA.
