Men's Golf Tied For Seventh After First Day of Adams Cup

NEWPORT, RI - Temple senior Matthew Crescenzo carded a two-under 142 over the first 36 holes of the Adams Cup, held at the Newport National Golf Club Monday to lead the Owls on the opening day of competition.

Temple was tied for seventh in the 16-team field with a 603. The Owls are just eight shots behind Hartford and host Rhode Island, who are tied for third with a score of 595. Central Florida leads the tournament with a 565 while Bethune-Cookman is in second with a 580.

Sophomore Brandon Matthews, struggled with a nine-over 81 in his morning round, but recovered in the afternoon to card a one-over 73 to tie for 42nd with his teammate, junior Mike Amole, for a 10-pver 154. Junior Matt Teesdale was one-shot back and tied for 49th with an 11-over 155. Freshman Evan Galbreath rounded out the squad with a 15-over 159.

The Adams Cup concludes on Tuesday.
