Molly Doyle Named BIG EAST Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week

NEW YORK - The BIG EAST Conference has named Temple senior Molly Doyle the Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 2-8. Louisville's Alyssa Voelmle was also honored as the Defensive Player of the Week. In addition to her BIG EAST honor, Doyle was named the Under Armour Athlete of the Week.

Doyle scored three goals and added two assists in a 2-0 week for the Owls, who upset #6 Penn State 3-0 on Sept. 6 before defeating former conference rival Richmond, 3-2 in overtime on Sept. 8. Doyle scored twice on the road against the #6 Nittany Lions, getting both goals on penalty corners. Her first goal of the game, less than six minutes in, would prove to be the game-winner. In the 28th minute of that contest, Doyle assisted on Temple's second goal by Amber Youtz.

With Temple trailing 1-0 against Richmond, Doyle scored on Temple's first penalty corner of the game in the 19th minute. She went on to record the assist on the Owls' game-winning goal in overtime, and also made a defensive save in the victory.

Temple goalkeeper Lizzy Millen was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for her efforts, which included making six saves in the 3-0 shutout win over #6 Penn State, and also recording six saves in the overtime win vs. Richmond. Millen faced a barrage of shots in the Penn State win, as the Nittany Lions recorded 16 shots to the Owls' four. The shutout was the first of the season for Millen, and the third complete-game shutout of her career.

Millen once again faced 16 shots in the Richmond win and made six saves while allowing two goals. She made two saves in the first 25 seconds of overtime, giving the Owls a chance to recover the ball and head down the other way for the game-winning goal.
