BRIDGEPORT, Conn. –
Temple women's gymnastics placed second on a tri-meet on Thursday night at Bridgeport, with Bridgeport taking first with a score of 192.975 and Southern Connecticut State finishing third with 187.125. Temple's record stands at 2-3 after the first two meets of the season.
The Owls finished the meet with 188.350.
Temple's highest scoring event came on beam with a score of 47.675. Reagan Oliveri
posted the highest score of all three teams on the event, scoring 9.700. Jean Alban
, Briana Odom
, and Heather Zaniewski
all tied for sixth with 9.525. Rounding out the event for the Owls was Brittanie DeMeno
Vault was the second highest scoring event for Temple, scoring 47.500. Alexis Arena
had the highest score for the Owls with 9.550. Mikaela Postlethwait
(9.525), Odom (9.500), DeMeno (9.500), and Oliveri (9.425) finished 9th-12th in the event.
(9.675) and Oliveri (9.650) finished fourth and fifth on bars. DeMeno scored 9.525, and Zaniewski (9.375) and Alban (8.775) finished out the event to give Temple a score of 47.000 for bars.
finished seventh on floor with a score of 9.550, the highest score for Temple on the floor. Oliveri had the second highest score of 9.350. DeMeno (9.300), Areana (9.250) and Jasmine Johnson
(8.725) then combined to give the Owls a score of 46.175 for the event.
Oliveri finished third in the all-around with a score of 38.125 while DeMeno finished right behind her in fourth with 37.725. Odon placed seventh with 35.850.
Temple's next meet will occur outside of the contiguous United States next Friday at Alaska Anchorage at 7:00 p.m. They will have a second meet two days later at 2:00 p.m. E.T. (a local time of 10:00 a.m.).
