CINCINNATI, Ohio – Temple men's soccer fell to Cincinnati 5-1 on Saturday night at Gettler Stadium. The Bearcats scored four goals in the second half to improve to 4-7-3, 1-3-1 while Temple drops to 2-10-2, 1-3-1.
Cincinnati scored the first goal of the game in the nineteenth minute. Ashani Walker scored on a pass from John Manga. Temple evened the game in the 35th minute. Felipe Liborio scored his first collegiate goal when he received a pass from Jared Martinelli and scored to the left of the goalkeeper.
The Bearcats opened the scoring in the second half in the 63rd minute. Emmanuel Appiah scored on a free kick from just outside the box on the left side. Alan Rovira scored five minutes later when he cut from the right side into the middle and shot it past goalkeeper Dan Scheck. Walker scored his second goal of the game in the 70th minute just inside the box. Not even a minute later Stefan Bangsund added the fifth goal of the game.
Scheck made four saves in the game. Bobby Rosato relieved him for the last 13 minutes and made one save.
Olli Tynkkynen led the Owls with two shots. Temple had the advantage in corner kicks 7-3 but was outshot 18-8.
Temple returns to action next Wednesday at UConn at 7:00 p.m. The Owls tied the Huskies 1-1 last season when Robert Sagel scored on a header off a corner kick by Martinelli in the second half.
