- Dina Karina
and Monet Stuckey-Willis
continued their run for a doubles title on Sunday at the ITA Atlantic Regional Championship, advancing to the semifinals. The tournament is being held at Virginia Tech's Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center from Oct. 17-21.
Karina and Stuckey-Willis teamed up to defeat Francesca Fusinato and Kelly Williford, the No. 7 seed from Virginia Tech, 8-7(5) in the quarterfinals on Sunday morning. The duo will take on the No. 1 seeded Maci Epstein and Stephanie Nauta of Virginia Monday morning for a spot in the semifinals on the line.
"We're really pleased with the way our girls have been performing, especially in doubles," said head coach Steve Mauro
. "Over the past couple of days they have beat some really competitive schools like William and Mary and top-ranked Virginia Tech. It will be a tough match against Virginia tomorrow morning but hopefully the girls will pull it out and make it to the final round."
