Women’s Soccer at SMU Tonight and at Houston Sunday

The Owls return to action tonight as they start their Texas trip in Dallas. Temple will take on SMU for an 8:00 p.m. game at Westcott Field. Temple will close out the weekend when it wraps up trip in Houston to take on University of Houston. The game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start at Carl Lewis International Complex.

Temple now sits at 9-3-1 and 2-1-1 in the conference after earning four conference points last weekend.  The women's soccer program has only had double digit wins in a season twice. Those seasons were the 1991 inaugural season when they went 11-7-0 under head coach Elleen RIchart and the 2000 season when they stood at 11-9-0 under head coach Seamus McWilliams.

•Temple is 9-3-1 with a 2-1-1 conference record for the 2014 season. The Owls just came off a two game home stand after playing nine straight games on the road.
Kelly Farrell was named to the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll after her performance this past week. Farrell contributed to the offensive attack last week with a goal in both games last week against Tulsa and Memphis.
•Temple women's soccer entered the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire Northeast Regional Poll at No. 6 on Tuesday.
•Temple women's soccer tied Memphis 1-1 Sunday afternoon.
•Temple women's soccer defeated Tulsa in overtime 3-2 Thursday afternoon in its conference home opener at Ambler Sports Complex.
Kelly Farrell leads the Owls in points with 16. Farrell also leads the Owls in goals (7), shots on goal (16), and shots on goal percentage (.667).
•Temple women's soccer defeated Cornell 2-1 in double overtime on 9/14/14 to win the Cornell Classic. The Owls improved their winning streak to seven games, and broke the record for the longest winning streak in program history.
•SMU comes in with a record of 5-8-0. Last week, the Mustangs went 0-2-0. SMU lost at UCF Thursday 3-0, and concluded the weekend at USF Sunday with a 2-1 loss.
• The Owls hold a 0-1-0 all-time record against the Mustangs. The teams' last matchup was on Sept. 29, 2013 at home, which resulted in a 1-0 victory for SMU.
•Houston comes in with a record of 1-5-4. Last week, the Cougars went 0-2-0. Houston lost at USF Thursday 3-1, and concluded the weekend at UCF with a 4-0 loss.
•The Owls hold a 1-0-0 all-time record against the Tigers. The teams' last matchup was on Sept. 26, 2013 at home, which resulted in a 2-0 victory for Temple.
