Kacyon Leads Men's Cross Country with Top-20 Finish at NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship

- Junior Matt Kacyon posted a 20th-place finish for the 10K race in 30:45 to lead Temple's men's cross country team at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship, hosted by Penn State. Kacyon's performance Friday afternoon earned him all-region honors.

"The men had a great race today," said coach James Snyder. "Improving from our team finish last year is a step in the right direction for us. Matt also had a strong performance and put himself in a good position to possibly qualify for the NCAA Championship."

As a team, Temple placed 16th out of 23 teams at the regional meet. Villanova took the men's team title for the second year in a row and Penn State's Matt Fischer was the top finisher of the day.

The next-best finisher for the Owls was junior Alex Izewski who placed 66th in a time of 31:54, improving on his performance by almost two minutes from last year's regional meet.

Temple will compete next weekend at the IC4A Championships on Saturday, Nov. 22 at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, N.Y.
