PHILADELPHIA -- Temple volleyball's Sandra Sydlik
made her first appearance on the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region team, earning honorable mention selection to the North Region team.
Sydlik, a junior setter, racked up 10.94 assists per set, leading Temple to a .242 hitting percentage. She also added 2.96 digs per set to go along with 83 kills, 29 aces, and 56 blocks. Sydlik was honored as the American Athletic Conference Setter of the Year, and was also named a first-team All-Conference selection. Earlier in the season, she was named The American's Offensive Player of the Week, and also made an appearance on the conference's Weekly Honor Roll three times. Sydlik led the Owls with 19 double-doubles this season.
Sydlik's All-Region selection marks the first Temple student-athlete to earn an AVCA All-Region nod since Yun Yi Zhang in 2009. The Temple volleyball team finished the 2014 season with a 24-8 overall record, tying for second place in The American.
