Philadelphia Soul Adds Two Former Owls
2.24.14 | Football
Saturday, the Philadelphia Soul added three players, among them were former Temple Owls WR Darryl Shine and OL Wayne Tribue.
"We are excited to some depth to the roster during camp," said Soul head coach, Clint Dolezel. "We are especially pleased that we were able to get some local talent. Darryl (Shine) showed a lot of good things early in camp and getting him from our open tryouts prove that Philadelphia has quality athletes...while getting Wayne (Tribue) is definitely a positive for our offensive line."
Shine (5-10, 170) was discovered at the Soul's last open tryouts. He played primarily special teams and wide receiver during his one year with the Owls and also attended Fullerton College prior to attending Temple. The team captain was first-team All-Conference at wide receiver and kick returner for Fullerton and earned 2009 team MVP. His efforts helped the team to back-to-back conference championships in 2008 and 2009.
Tribue (6-3, 330) joined the Soul to complete a trade with the Portland Thunder for Andrae Thurman last week. Tribue was one of the anchors on the Temple offensive line during his collegiate days. He was selected for the Casino Del Sol All-Star Game in 2012, earned Temple Offensive MVP in 2009 and was 3rd team All-MAC honoree in 2011. He was an undrafted free agent signee of the Denver Broncos in 2012 and has spent time with the New Orleans Saints and San Francisco 49ers.
