Gymnastics Earns Third Place in Meet at Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Temple men's gymnastics placed third in a meet against Ohio State and Oklahoma at St. John Arena on Saturday evening. Temple posted its second highest team score of the season with 402.85, as Ohio State won with a score of 446.15 and Oklahoma second with 444.3.
Temple's highest scoring event came on the vault, getting an event score of 69.35. Casey Polizzotto (14.15) and Jon Rydzefski (14) both scored at least a 14 to lead the Owls in the event. The second best scoring came on rings with a 67.4. Rings specialist Evan Eigner had the top score for Temple with a 14.15.
On floor, the Owls earned a 66.9. Brendan Williams had the best score of any Temple gymnast on the event with a 14. Michael Bittner had a 14.2 on pommel horse to help get a 65.6 on the event.
The Owls scored above a 66 on both the parallel bar and horizontal bar. Williams once again had the top score on parallel bars with a 13.8. Misha Kustin had a season high on the horizontal bar with a 13.8.
Jon Rydzefski and Jakob Welsh were two of three gymnasts to perform all six events for an all-around score. Rydzefski was second with 83.8, and Welsh got third with a 78.95.
The regular season has ended for Temple, and they will go to Annapolis, Md. for the ECAC Championships next weekend. The team and all-around will be on Saturday at 4:00 p.m., and the individual event finals will be on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
