Men's Soccer Honors Several Student-Athletes at Team Banquet

PHILADELPHIA – Temple men's soccer held their annual banquet last night at and honored five student-athletes for their accomplishments this season.

Ryan Bradbury and Nolan Hemmer were given the Irv Canter Captains Award.  Both seniors served as captains for the team this season and started all four years in their career.  Bradbury started all 18 games this year for Temple as a midfielder, assisting on two goals.  Hemmer started all 16 games he played this season as a defenseman and scored one goal and one assist.

Hemmer was also named the Most Valuable Defensive Player and given the Academic Award.  Hemmer was part of a defensive unit that allowed goalkeeper Dan Scheck to tie the school record with nine shutouts, allowing only 13 goals total this season.

Vaughn Spurrier was voted the Most Valuable Offensive Player.  The senior had four goals and three assists for 11 points as one of two players with more than 10 points on the season.

Seniors Sawyer Hemmer and Sam Heller shared the Dr. William P. Leaness Most Inspirational Award.
