Men's Golf In Sixth After Day One At Princeton Invitational


PRINCETON, NJ - Sophomore Brandon Matthews carded a four-under par 138 Saturday at the Princeton Invitational to help the Temple men's golf team place sixth overall (of 15 teams) after the first day of competition.  

Matthews started the day with a one-over 72, before catching fire in the afternoon and shooting a five-under 66 on the par-71, 6,390-yard Springdale Golf Club course.

Senior Matthew Crescenzo was next for the Owls, compiling a five-over 147 (74-73) to tie for 33rd overall.  Junior Mike Amole was three shots back and tied for 49th with a 150 (78-72) while the Owls' first round leader, junior Matt Teesdale (71-80), and freshman Evan Galbreath (77-74) tied for 53rd with scores of 151. 

Harvard leads the field with a 548, 31 strokes ahead of the Owls (579), while the Crimson's Akash Mirchandani tops the leaderboard with a nine-under 133.  

Play concludes Sunday.
