Prezioso Named American Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Temple's Sarah Prezioso (Bloomfield, N.J./Bloomfield) has been named the American Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week for the week ending April 13, 2014. It is the first weekly honor of the season for the senior. UCF junior Mackenzie Audas was tabbed Pitcher of the Week.

Prezioso was also named the OwlSports.com Under Armour Athlete of the Week for the second-straight time.

The shortstop fronted her Owls as they posted a 3-2 week, including taking two league wins at home over Rutgers to improve to 13-19 overall. Her 8-for-16 week included a crucial 3-for-3 performance in Saturday's 14-6 win over the Scarlet Knights, batting in three runs in that game, two of which came from a second inning homer. She also scored the winning run for the Owls in a 6-5 extra-inning win on April 9 at Towson.

On the season, Prezioso paces her team with a .402 average, good for fourth in The American. She also leads the squad with 41 hits, seven home runs and 21 RBIs. After this past weekend, she is hitting .440 in conference play, which is tied for second among league players.

The Owls are 13-19 overall and 3-6 in conference action. Temple, tied for fifth place with Rutgers in the conference standings, hosts Villanova for a pair of non-conference games on Tuesday, April 15 at 3 p.m., before heading to UConn this weekend for a three-game series with the Huskies. TU and UConn will meet for two games on Friday, April 18 at 12 p.m. before closing the series with a single game at 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 19.
