Field Hockey Welcomes Alumni for Sunday Game Against Bucknell

PHILADELPHIA - Temple field hockey will welcome back alumni for Homecoming Weekend as the Owls get set to face non-conference rival Bucknell on Sunday at 1 p.m. It is the second-to-last home game for the Owls, who will celebrate Senior Day on Friday, Oct. 23.

Temple will honor all field hockey alums in attendance at halftime of the game. Prior to the contest, Temple will host a clinic for all levels, grades 6-12. For more information, click HERE

The Owls are looking to looking to snap a five-game losing streak on Sunday, with three of those coming by just a single goal. Four of the five defeats were to teams ranked in the NFHCA Top 20, and the Owls have played a total of seven ranked teams already in the 2015 season.

Senior Alyssa Delp leads Temple with nine goals this season, and scored a penalty stroke goal in two of the Owls' last four games. In Temple's most recent win at Monmouth (Sept. 18), Delp recorded her first career hat trick to lead the Owls to a 4-2 win. Delp's nine goals rank in a tie for second among all players in the BIG EAST Conference. Her goals per game average of 0.82 ranks 17th among all players in NCAA Division I. Senior goalkeeper Haley Mitchell made a career high 12 saves in the Oct. 4 loss to Liberty, and was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for her efforts. In Temple's loss to UConn on Friday, Mitchell nearly matched her career high with 11 saves.

Bucknell is 5-6 so far this season, and will play at Lafayette on Saturday afternoon before heading to Temple on Sunday. The Bison and the Owls have had four opponents in common this season, and recorded the same result against all four with losses to Penn State and Delaware along with wins against Monmouth and Saint Joseph's. Senior forward Kiersten Sydnor leads Bucknell with six goals and 14 total points in 2015.

Temple holds a 5-1 lead over Bucknell in the all-time series between the two teams, including a 2-1 road win last season. The Owls and the Bison have met each season starting in 2009, with Bucknell taking that first meeting and Temple winning the rest.
