Men's Cross Country Takes Ninth at the Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. - Temple men's cross country took ninth of 21 teams at Saturday's Princeton Invitational, with three Owls finishing in the top 40 among 181 runners. Leading Temple was senior Alex Izewski in 20th place, running the 8K course in a time of 24:33.3.
Senior Matt Kacyon placed 30th in 24:42.5, and junior Stephan Listabarth finished 40th in a personal-best 24:58.3.
"Today was a great chance for us to see the course we'll be racing on at the NCAA Regional meet," said coach James Snyder. "We got to see where we match up with these teams in our region, and we can definitely draw confidence from our performances today. In a month we look to come back and really get the job done."
Freshman Johnathan Condly ran a personal-best 25:45.5, as did senior Will Maltin with a time of 25:48.5.
"Johnathan did a really good job putting himself in the race and closing at the end," said Snyder. "Today was also a big step for Stephan from where he was two weeks ago, and we'll be looking for him to take another big step two weeks from now at the conference meet."
Saturday's meet was the final tune-up for the Owls, who will next race in the American Athletic Conference Championships on Oct. 31 at East Carolina.
