Women's Gymnastics Holds Cherry vs White Intrasquad

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's gymnastics held its first intrasquad meet Wednesday morning to prepare for its first meet of the season on Jan. 3. The team was divided into a cherry squad and a white squad, with eight gymnasts' exhibitioning for each group. With guest judges present to score each routine on a simple 1-10 basis, the white team came out on top with 212 total points. The cherry team ended close behind with 211.75 points.

The white team included returners Victoria Reggiani, Danielle Vahala, Kerry Arone, Hannah Popper, and Gina Tucker. Newcomers on the team were India Anderson, Breahna Wiczkowski and Alexa Phillip

Head coach Umme Salim-Beasley used the cherry vs white competition to add an element of pressure to the girls in order to better prepare for their first competition. With the loss of eight letterwinners last season, the Owls will build confidence with 10 returning athletes and seven newcomers.

The team will host a second intrasquad meet in December in their new practice facility before travelling to Central Michigan University at the start of the New Year.
