COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Temple women's gymnastics fell on the road at Ursinus in a dual meet on Sunday afternoon. The Bears won the meet with a team score of 192.625 while the Owls had a team score of 187.75.
The Owls best event was floor, where they earned an event score of 47.875. Stephanie Verry
finished the event and tied Lauren Capone
for Temple's top score with a 9.625. Jasmine Johnson
's routine earned a 9.6, and Michaela Lapent
opened floor with a 9.575.
The first event for Temple was bars, and the Owls got a team score of 45.425 on the event. Kerry Arone
garnered a 9.7, and it was the third straight meet in which she's gotten at least a 9.7. Lapent led off on bars and got a 9.4.
Temple then moved on to vault. Briana Odom
and Johnson both earned a 9.625 to led the Owls to a team score of 47.6 on the event. Alexis Arena
garnered a 9.5. Victoria Reggiani
(9.45) and Gina Tucker
(9.4) were respectively right behind her with their performances on vault.
Bars was the last event for Temple of the meet, and they got a team score of 46.85. Odom had the top score with a 9.625 and set a season-high score in the process. Lapent led off an event for the third time in the meet and earned a 9.6. Tucker's routine got her a 9.55, her first official score on beam of her career.
The Owls will head to Western Pennsylvania for a meet next Saturday at 7:00 p.m. The meet will be hosted by Pitt, and UNC and WVU will also be participating.Results
