Senior All-American Brandon Matthews
tied for 10th overall with a two-over 146 to lead Temple Golf to a sixth place finish at the Quechee Cup Collegiate Challenge Sunday, Matthews, who had to withdraw from the Hartford Hawk Invitational earlier in the week, carded consecutive rounds of 73 at the 6840-yard, par-72 Quechee Club.
Rhode Island's Billy Walthouse won the event, shooting a six-under for the tournament. He entered the final round one shot behind John Lazor (-4) of host Dartmouth, but carded a two-under 70 to take the title.
Dartmouth (578) won the team title, besting Rhode Island (582) by four strokes. Harvard placed third (583) and were followed by Hartford (603), Temple (604), Fordham (607), Dartmouth B (607), Colgate (610), Cornell (612), Sacred Heart (615), Penn (620), Brown (621) and Holy Cross (651).
Freshman Sam Soeth
was next for Temple, tying for 17th with a six-over 150.
Temple next competes at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate from October 4-6.
