Women’s Soccer Hosts Pair of Florida Teams this Weekend

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's soccer is set to host a pair of conference opponents this weekend as the USF Bulls come to town on Thursday (3:30 p.m.) and the UCF Knights on Sunday (1:00 p.m.).
 
The Owls currently sit at 3-11, 0-4 as the Bulls come into Thursday's game at 9-1-1, 1-1-1. The Knights are 6-5-1, 1-1-1 with a game on Thursday against Connecticut. Both the Bulls and Knights are coming off of a game where they played each other and tied 1-1.
 
Temple is coming off of a rough 2-1 loss to the SMU Mustangs. In the match, redshirt-junior Kayla Cunningham scored the Owls lone goal with the assist by junior Elana Falcone.
 
On the year, Temple is led offensively by junior Gabriella McKeown. The forward has three goals, two assists and eight points on the 2016 campaign. All of which are team highs.
 
In net for the Owls is sophomore goalkeeper Jordan Nash. Nash has started all but one game for the team this season and has compiled 80 saves, three shut outs, and a goals against average of 1.42.
 
For the Bulls, they are led statistically by Evelyne Viens. Viens has 11 goals, three assists, 33 shots, and 25 points for the Bulls this season. She leads the team in all of these offensive categories.
 
The Bulls goalkeeper, Kat Elliott, has played in all 11 games saving 34 shots. Elliott has allowed eight goals on the year with a goals against average of 0.77
 
The Knights are currently led statistically by Carol Rodrigues. Rodrigues leads the team with nine goals, 39 shots and 20 points on the season.
 
In net, the Knights have Vera Varis. Varis has started all 12 games 34 saves, three shutouts, and a goals against average of 1.63.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES…
 
The Bulls lead the series against the Owls, 3-0. The teams last met during the 2015 season when the Bulls took the victory 1-0 in Tampa.
 
The Owls trail the series against the Knights 0-4. The teams first met in 1992 and most recently in 2015 where the Knights won 2-1 in the 2015 American Athletic Conference Tounarment.

The Owls will stay home after this weekend's matches as they'll host the UConn Huskies for a Saturday afternoon Senior Day match. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. and will stream on OwlsTV.
