News & Notes Following Temple's 31-0 Win at Tulane….

In the past two seasons, Temple has won 18 games. It is the best two-year stretch in school history. Temple won 17 games in a two-year span four times (1973-74, 1978-79, 2009-10, 2010-11).

Temple's senior class now has 26 wins in the last 3+ seasons which ranks ninth all-time in school history over a four-year span. However, with 1-3 games remaining, this year's class has a chance to move into third all-time [31 wins (2011), 30 (2012), 28 (1931, 1974, 1975), 27 (1930, 1973, 1976), 26 (1932, 1979, 1980, 1981)].

Temple defense posted a shutout for the second week in a row (21-0 at UConn). The last time that Temple did that was October of 2011 (at Ball State and vs. Buffalo). The last time Temple posted shutouts in back-to-back road games was 1925 – at Schuylkill and at St. John's (MD).

Temple has not surrendered a point since a touchdown with 8:21 remaining in the second quarter vs. Cincinnati. That has been 10 full quarters and a combined 158 minutes and 21 seconds.

The defense held Tulane to just 142 yards of total offense and just 24 passing yards. Temple now ranks third in the nation in total defense (277.8 YPG; behind only Michigan and Alabama), second in passing yards allowed (142.4 YPG; behind Michigan), 14th in scoring defense (18.5 PPG), and sixth in red zone defense (69.2%).

With a season-high 533 total yards of offense, Temple topped the 500-yard plateau for the fourth time this season. During its five game win streak, the offense has averaged 466.0 YPG.

Senior RB Jahad Thomas scored a rushing and receiving touchdown, continuing his penchant for finding the end zone. He now has a pair of touchdowns in eight of the nine games he has played this season for a total of 16 in 2016. Since the start of last season, he has 15 games with at least a pair of TDs for a combined 35 TDs.

Redshirt sophomore WR Ventell Bryant set career-highs in catches (9) and receiving yards (168) and added one TD.  Seven of his nine catches went for first downs, including connections of 29, 31, and 39 yards. In the last six games, he has 32 catches (27 for first downs) for 595 yards and two scores.

Senior QB Phillip Walker threw for 337 yards and two touchdowns while recording the offense's third game of the season without a turnover. It was Walker's fifth career 300+ yard passing game and the 22nd time he threw for 2-or-more TDs. He now has 15 career games where he threw for a combined 200+ yards and 2-or-more TDs.

Redshirt senior DL Haason Reddick notched 2.0 tackles for loss, including one sack giving him a nation's best 20.0 TFLs, and his 9.5 sacks are second best in the conference. The 20.0 TFLs set a new American Athletic Conference mark for a single season.
