Women’s Tennis Falls to Cincinnati, 4-3

PHILADELPHIA – In their last conference match of the season, the Temple women's tennis team fell to the Cincinnati Bearcats, 4-3. The Owls move to 3-2, 1-1 The American.
In doubles, Cincinnati swept the point as Harley Hutchinson and Lauren Bellinger defeated Mariana Bedon and Yana Khon, 6-2 at the second flight, while Natalia Abdalla and Ali Miller took down Alina Abdurakhimova and Anais Nussaume, 6-2 at the first flight.
In singles, Minami Okajima was able to get the Owls on the board, claiming a win at the fourth flight over Abdalla, 6-1, 6-0. Cincinnati would then go on to win three-straight sets to defeat Temple, starting as Miller defeated Abdurakhimova, 6-3, 6-2 at the first flight. In her first match back from an injury, the Owls' Monet Stuckey-Willis battled with Bellinger at the second flight, ultimately falling 2-6, 6-0, 6-4. Nussaume also fought hard at the third flight against Antonella Bramato, but dropped in three sets, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, as the Bearcats picked up the win.
The Owls will next travel to Loretto, Pa. to take on St. Francis on February 21 at 10 a.m.
