Longtime Temple Athletics Supporter Dr. Peter Chodoff Passes Away

3.22.16 | Football, General

PHILADELPHIA - Temple University mourns the passing of one of its most ardent supporters, Dr. Peter Chodoff (CST '47), who died Monday evening.  He was 91.

"This is a very sad day for all of Temple University, not just athletics," said Temple University Director of Athletics Dr. Patrick Kraft.  "Doc Chodoff was a beloved man who gave his heart and soul in support of all Temple student-athletes.  His generosity was at the highest level and his passion for Temple was unmatched.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time. He will be deeply missed."

Forever linked to Temple as the University's Football practice field bears his name, Dr. Chodoff was at every Owls' football game, home and away, for the last 15 years. He could also be seen courtside at the men's basketball games cheering on the Cherry and White.

Among the most active fundraisers for the athletic department's Owl Club, Dr. Chodoff served as a member of the organization's Executive Board and was also on the Executive Board of the Legends Society for donors whose lifetime gifts exceeded $100,000.

Besides his annuity gift to name the football practice field at Edberg-Olson complex "Chodoff Field", he also made other such gift to fund the training/hydrotherapy facilities at the Edberg-Olson expansion.  Over the past two decades there was not a single athletic fundraising project that Dr. Chodoff did not contribute to financially.

He is survived by his longtime loving partner, Joan Saltzer, his son Louis, daughter Carole and two grandchildren, Alaina and Tony.

Dr. Chodoff's Memorial Service will be held Friday 1:00 pm at Platt Memorial Chapel in Cherry Hill, N.J. Doors will open at 12:30 pm.
