– Four senior Owls from the Temple women's gymnastics team celebrated their final home competition this afternoon in McGonigle Hall. With a team total of 190.50, the Owls placed third behind Penn (191.90) and Bridgeport (194.225). Senior Reagan Oliveri
led the afternoon, earning first place in the all-around with a 38.2.
The Owls opened the meet on vault, where they currently rank first in the conference, with a 48.15 total event score. Sophomore Sahara Gipson
led the lineup with a 9.75 followed closely by freshman India Anderson
who posted a season-high 9.7 with her stuck vault. Junior Briana Odom
posted a 9.625 and freshman Aya Mahgoub
logged a 9.575. Both Oliveri and Michaela Lapent
posted scores of 9.5.
Second up, the bar lineup grabbed three hits for an event total of 46.625. Odom led the event with a solid 9.675. Lapent and Oliveri both hit their sets, posting scores of 9.6 and 9.55, respectively. Overall, the Owls' logged a 46.625 on the event.
Oliveri was the team leader on beam with a season-high 9.75 that ranked in a tie for second overall with Bridgeport's Hope Tralli. Sophomore Victoria Reggiani
and freshman Breahna Wiczkowski
both added solid scores of 9.6, with Kayla Kennedy
posting a 9.3 to total a 47.35 event score.
Highlighting the day was the Owls' floor lineup which posted a 48.375 event total. Both Anderson and sophomore Alexa Phillip
earned career-high marks with their performances, both scoring a 9.8. Their marks ranked second among all floor competitors for the day behind Bridgeport's Brianna Comport and Randi Cutolo. Gipson continued her consistency on the event with a 9.7 and was rounded out by Lapent's 9.675 and Oliveri's 9.4.
Following the competition, Lapent, Oliveri, Hannah Popper
, and Danielle Vahala
were honored for their careers as Owls. Both Popper and Vahala were able to exhibition routines for the final time in McGonigle Hall as part of the celebration.
The Owls have only one regular-season meet remaining before the conference championships. The team will travel to Brown for a tri-meet set for next Saturday, March 12 at 6:00 p.m. Senior Day Ceremony
