Women's Tennis Falls to Cincinnati in Opening Round of Conference Tournament

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - In the opening round of the American Athletic Conference Championships, the seventh-seeded Temple women's tennis team fell 4-2 to the No. 10 Cincinnati Bearcats on Wednesday afternoon. The Owls season ends with a 12-5 record.
In doubles, the Bearcats picked up the first point as Antonella Bramato and Katya Bure defeated Yana Khon and Anais Nussaume, 6-1 at the third flight, while Lauren Bellinger and Ali Miller posted a 6-3 win at the first flight over Alina Abdurakhimova and Minami Okajima.
The Owls evened up the score at 1-1 once singles play started, as Abdurakhimova defeated Miller at the first flight, 6-2, 4-1 before the flight was retired. Bramato was able to put Cincinnati back on top after taking a 6-2, 6-3 win over Nussaume at the third flight and teammate Bellinger gave the Bearcats a 3-1 lead after defeating Khon, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 at the second flight.
Monet Stuckey-Willis was able to give Temple one last push with a thriling 2-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 win at the fourth flight over Bure. However, Cincinnati's Harley Hutchison capped off the match after she took down Dina Karina, 6-4, 4-6, 6-0 at the fifth flight.
