Women's Soccer Drops Tough 1-0 Match to Towson

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's soccer dropped a tough 1-0 match to Towson Sunday aftenoon. The Owls fell to 2-3 on the season while the Tigers picked up their first win, moving their record to 1-4-1.
The first half of the game was a stalemate with neither team being able to find the back of the net.
Just a few minutes into the second half, Towson struck the game winner as Natalia Pinkney netted a pass from Emily Marshall. Sophomore goalkeeper Jordan Nash dove, but the shot had too much on it.
Head coach Seamus O'Connor said that in the second half the Tigers came on ready to play.
"Sometimes it's not about how you come out, it's about how the other team comes out," O'Connor said. "They took advantage. We had a chance to build out from the back and we missed the pass. Sometimes there are bumps or bad reads and it cost you a shot or a goal."
Overall, O'Connor is glad to see that his team is making adjustments each game.
"It's a learning curve," O'Connor said. "I'm sure when we watch the video, they will make [improvements]. They have shown me improvement from game to game."
For the day, Nash finished with three saves and the one goal against. Towson goalkeeper Taylor Sebolao compiled two saves and recorded her first shutout of the season.
As a team, the Owls had 13 shots and the Tigers had eight. Temple also led in the corner kick category, 4-3.
The Owls head back on the road for a Friday night matchup against the Princeton Tigers. The match is set to start at 7:00 p.m. and will air live on the Ivy League Digital Network.
