Volleyball Falls to ECU on Friday

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple volleyball team rallied for a second-set win, but ultimately fell 3-1 to visiting ECU on Friday. The Pirates took the four-set match, 25-17, 19-25, 25-19, 25-15, to improve to 11-6 overall 3-2 in conference play. Temple falls to 7-6, 3-2 in The American.
KEYS TO THE MATCH
> ECU hit .259 to Temple's .177 to earn the win.
> The Owls only set win came in the second where the cherry and white out-hit ECU .286 to .031.
> ECU also out-blocked (8-3) and out-dug (74-65) Temple to take the win.

> Temple got back in it with kills from Simmons and Coundourides to make it 21-7.

> Temple trailed 3-1 before scoring five-straight to make it 5-3.
> After ECU finally got a sideout, Temple went on a 5-1 run to push the lead to 10-5.
> Temple kept its five-point advantage until an ECU surge cut it to 20-18.
> From there, the Owls used a 5-1 run to close out the frame.Â

> The Pirates again led buzzer-to-buzzer in the set win.
> ECU jumped out to an 11-5 lead early in the action.
> Temple rallied for a 5-1 run to make it 12-10.
> After the teams traded runs to make it 17-15 ECU, the Pirates took over.
> ECU won eight of the final 12 points to go up 3-1 in the match.
