Women's Cross Country Earns Top-10 Finish at NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional

Bethlehem, Pa. - On Friday, Temple women's cross country toed the line at the 2017 NCAA Mid-Atlantic regional race. The Owls' top finisher was junior Katie Leisher.
Keys to the Race
> Leisher finished the women's 6K in 20:57.7 to come in 32nd place out of 193 runners.
> Next to cross the finish line for Temple was sophomore Grace Moore. Moore came just behind Leisher with a time of 20:59.7 (35).
> Rounding out Temple's top three was freshman Lucy Jones. The Leicester, England native completed the race in 21:08.8 (41).
Race Notes
> Overall, the Owls placed tenth out of the 28 teams in the region - higher than their No. 13 ranking by U.S. Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association. The 10th place finish was the squad's highest ever in program history at the regional meet.
> Leisher's time was a season best. The only time she ran a faster 6K was at the 2016 Paul Short Invitational where she reached a career best 20:54.1.
> Moore's time of 20:59.7 marked a career best for the sophomore.
