Women's Basketball Hosts Saint Joseph's in Big Five Clash on Wednesday

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple women's basketball team looks to go 2-0 in the Big 5, hosting Saint Joseph's on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at McGonigle Hall. 

> Temple is 4-2 on the season, 2-2 at home and 1-0 on the road to start the year.
> Tanaya Atkinson leads the Owls, averaging a double-double of 23.0 points and 10.8 rebounds per game.
> Freshman Mia Davis averages 9.3 points and 9.0 boards per game.
> Freshman Emani Mayo averages 8.0 points per game, while classmate Desiree Oliver averages 7.5 points and 3.0 assists.
> Senior Khadijah Berger averages 5.5 points and 3.0 assists per game.
> Freshman Breanna Perry adds 4.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per outing.
> As a team, Temple shoots 39.8% from the field and 25.4% from three.

> Temple dropped a 64-48 game to visiting Ole Miss on Saturday afternoon. 
> Temple's offense went cold, shooting just 25% from the field (15-60), including going just 1-14 (7.1%) in the fourth quarter.
> The Owls forced 23 Ole Miss turnovers, but Temple was out-rebounded 47-36.
> Tanaya Atkinson turned in her fifth double-double in six games, leading the Owls with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and four steals.
> Berger scored nine points with a pair of assists.
> Shannen Atkinson and Davis each put up four points and six rebounds.

> Saint Joseph's comes into Wednesday's game with a 5-0 record.
> The Hawks most recently won their home invitational, topping Eastern Illinois (80-62) and Saint Peters (87-58).
> SJU has a high powerd offense, averaging 82.0 points per game, while shooting 52.2% from the field and 56.7% from long range. 
> The Hawks have four players who average in double-figures in scoring, lead by Sarah Veilleux's 17.4 points per game. 
> Chelsea Woods scores 15.8 points per game with 7.2 rebounds per outing.
> Alyssa Monaghan averages 12.4 points and 5.2 assists per game.
> Adaishia Franklin rounds out the top scorers with 11.8 points per game, while averaging a team-best 7.6 points per game.

> Five Hawks finished in double figures in scoring, as SJU topped Saint Peter's, 87-58 to win the 24th Annual Hawk Classic on Sunday.
> Saint Joseph's led wire-to-wire in the victory.
> Veilleux scored 16 points en route to an MVP title.
> Alyssa Monaghan had a game-high 18 points and five assists, while Woods added 12 points and eight rebounds.
> Amanda Fioravanti chipped in with 10 points and eight rebounds and Franklin had 10 points, five boards.
