School Record Four Owls Set to Attend NFL Combine

PHILADELPHIA- The National Football League announced the list of 330 players invited to participate in the 2017 NFL Combine in Indianapolis, Ind.  A conference-record 18 players from the American Athletic Conference are among the  participants who will perform in front of National Football League coaches this year. Temple leads the conference with four selections this year - OL Dion Dawkins,  DB Nate Hairston, DL Haason Reddick, and RB Jahad Thomas.

Dawkins was a pivotal part of the Owls' offensive line as he compiled 40 starts during his illustrious career. In 2015, he was given fourth-team Phil Steele All-American honors while in 2016 he was a unanimous first team all-conference selection. Dawkins helped the duo of running backs Ryquell Armstead and Jahad Thomas each rush for over 900 yards and 13+ touchdowns, making that the first time that has happened in school history. The Rahway, N.J., native was a four-year letterwinner and a team captain during his senior year.

Hairston, a Frederick, Md., native, started at cornerback in all 13 games this season for the Owls. He finished the season with 25 tackles, two interceptions and three pass breakups, and was a major reason why Temple's defense was ranked #3 in the nation. Hairston was a first-year starter who converted to cornerback from wide receiver a year ago.

Reddick was one of three American defensive players who was selected unanimously to first-team all-conference. This season, he led the nation in TFLs with 22.5 which also tied a Temple single-season record and was second in the AAC with 10.5 sacks. Reddick finished his career as the all-time leader in TFLs for the American Conference with 47.0 and was second on Temple's all-time list. The Camden, N.J., native was a three-year letterwinner and a team captain during his senior year.

Thomas, is a two time all-conference player and has scored 38 touchdowns over the last two seasons. In 2016, Thomas scored two touchdowns in nine out of his twelve games including his first six which is was the longest streak in the nation last season and the longest streak in Owls' history. Thomas leaves Temple as third all-time in touchdowns (39), third in rushing touchdowns (30), sixth in rushing yards (2,599), and third in all-purpose yards (4,744). The Elizabeth, N.J. native was a three-year letterwinner and a team captain during his senior year.
