Men's Soccer Announces 2017 Schedule

PHILADELPHIA - Coming off its second consecutive 10-win season, Temple men's soccer and head coach David MacWilliams look to ride the momentum into another challenging schedule in 2017. The Owls will play nine regular-season games at the year-old Temple Sports Complex, with an additional two exhibition games to open the season in mid-August.
Fans will have two early chances to see Temple in action as the Owls host exhibition games against Lafayette (Aug. 15, 11 a.m.) and Monmouth (Aug. 19, 7 p.m.). They open the regular season at city rival Saint Joseph's at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 25, and next face city rival Villanova on the road on Aug. 29.
The Owls' first regular-season home game has them hosting Rider at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 3. The home slate picks up later in the month, with Temple hosting seven opponents on its home field between Sept. 19 and Oct. 17.
After opening a three-game homestand with Duquesne on Sept. 19, Temple plays UConn at home in its American Athletic Conference opener. Other league home games include SMU (Oct. 7), Cincinnati (Oct. 14) and USF (Nov. 4).
Temple will host in-state rival Penn State on Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. The Owls defeated the 24th-ranked Nittany Lions at home in 2015 before earning their first road win at PSU since 1989 a season ago, making it back-to-back wins.Â
As part of the four-game home stretch in October that includes SMU and Cincinnati, the Owls will host non-conference opponents Drexel on Oct. 3 and NJIT on Oct. 17.
The top seed in the AAC will host the tournament semifinals on Friday, Nov. 10 and the championship on Sunday, Nov. 12.
